The painting aims to capture a positive memory of lying beneath the trees on a summer’s day, whilst falling asleep in the long grass. 
The work retains some elements of the physical world but also strives to capture a dreamlike quality, using shades of yellow and a play on light to conjure feelings of warmth and nostalgia. 
Painted outside last summer, the painting was created in response to music, which I think gives the painting movement as the shapes appear to dance around the canvas in response.
