Fallow

Fallow speaks of dormancy and the long patience of waiting. Named for land left to rest before renewal, this work holds thirty years of gathered fragments in a state of suspension — objects encased in wax, neither lost nor yet fully found. Waxed paper from previous projects created in the art school days, unfinished jewellery, an abandoned upholstery project, wooden buttons that were made but never found their use.  Fallow is made entirely from objects that waited to be given meaning. There is a folkloric quality to its stillness; the feeling of something ancient being tended, kept safe until the right season arrives.
